McKallie’s Home of Future and Hope Children’s Village in Malawi Africa is a non- denominational Christian children’s village working to alleviate the suffering of orphans and vulnerable children brought on by poverty and the HIV/AIDS crisis.
McKallies’ Home utilizes the children’s village concept by where children in need are placed and live in our homes governed by a house mother and or parents, building families and long lasting relationships. They have opportunity to grow with love, respect and security. They learn, share responsibilities and experience the joys and sorrows of daily living. These family homes together create a supportive village environment creating lifelong ties. It is our hope to provide physical, spiritual and emotional care along with educational opportunities to Malawi’s orphaned and vulnerable children.

In 2004 teachers at the Valley School identified a need in our community — an increasing number of students lacking access to affordable clothes. They assembled an action team and the Helping Hands Thrift Store in Hazelton was created. The Valley Lions Club was then chartered to operate the store on behalf of Helping Hands Thrift Store, Inc., a partnership that continues today.
When something positive happens in the community, the Lions want to be involved. In addition to the thrift store, the club organizes community events like the annual summer Celebration and candidate forums, as well as partnering with other community groups on projects that make Eden, Hazelton, and Murtaugh great places to live.

Amita C. Smith moved from Sun Valley to Bliss more than several years ago, hoping to find a place to raise her two young daughters with a sense of connectedness to the land and the local people who earn a living from the land. Thus was born the Across the River Horse Ranch, located “across the river” from the small town of Bliss, Idaho.
Amita started the ranch with just a few horses and dogs. Over time, the ranch has evolved into a sanctuary for rescued horses and other stray or unwanted animals. Presently, the ranch is home to a few dozen horses, several dogs, several more cats, two goats, a lama, and a cow.
In 2015, the Ranch started working with wilderness therapy programs to provide equine motivational guidance to youth, employing Amita Smith’s unique and innovative methods for connecting a child’s interaction with horses as a guide to acquiring self-confidence, focus,

Any child old enough to love is old enough to grieve. While in their own grief, parents may not realize how their children are feeling. Children may hide their grief because they blame themselves, are afraid, or hiding anger. Recovering from a loss takes time and it has been shown that having a sense of community is essential to help children get back their lives.
Because Kids Grieve is a support organization for children, teens, and their families who grieve the loss of someone they love because of death. We have a variety of events scheduled for each quarter of the year. There is no cost to the families that use our services.
